Grievance Procedure

18 Oct , 2019

A grievance mechanism is a non-judicial procedure that offers a formalised means by which individuals or groups can raise concerns about the impact an enterprise has on them – including, but not exclusively, on their human rights – and seek remedy. These mechanisms may use adjudicative, dialogue-based or other processes that are culturally appropriate and rights-compatible. According to the United Nations, for a grievance mechanism to be effective it should be legitimate, accessible, predictable, equitable, transparent, rights-compatible, and a source of continuous learning.
